Plans and money
Payouts for server owners
When members buy in your server (coins, memberships), the money goes through Journo's PayPal account. Each payment is split by your plan and recorded.
Donations made with /donate are different: they go towards developing and improving Journo. The exception: on Free and Standard, while you have the donation panel deployed, you get 5% of donations made in your server, paid out like your other earnings. See Donations. Shop hype trains (Plus and Premium) are split like coin sales.
| Plan | Your share of coin and membership sales | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 20% | Upgrade credit |
| Standard | 50% | Upgrade credit |
| Plus | 92% | Paid out to your PayPal |
| Premium | 99% | Paid out to your PayPal |
Plan hype trains pay for the plan, so all of that money goes to Journo. Shop hype trains (Plus and Premium) are shared with you like coin sales. See Hype trains.
Free and Standard: upgrade credit
Your share becomes upgrade credit, used automatically the next time you run /plan upgrade.
Plus and Premium: paid out
Your share waits as a balance until it's paid out to your PayPal account.
- The server owner runs
/plan payout-setupwith their PayPal email address, and agrees to the payout terms. Only the server owner can do this. /plan earningsshows your share, your credit and recent payouts.- Payouts are sent through PayPal Payouts, usually on the 1st of each month. The smallest payout is €10; smaller balances wait for the next one.
If PayPal can't deliver a payout (a wrong email, unclaimed or blocked), the money goes straight back on your balance and you're told.
Good to know
- By agreeing to the payout terms, you confirm the PayPal account is yours (or your organisation's), that payouts are income you're responsible for declaring for tax, and that PayPal may ask you to verify your identity before releasing money.
- Refunds are made in PayPal. After a coin purchase is refunded,
/payments reversetakes back those coins and the server's share. - This isn't tax advice. If the money becomes meaningful, talk to an accountant.
