Terms of service

Draft for review. This draft was written from how Journo's code actually works. It isn't legal advice. Have it checked before you publish and fill in the dashed placeholders.

Last updated: 30/09/2026

These terms are between you and Journo ("we"), who run Journo. By adding Journo to a server or using it, you agree to them.

The service

Journo is a Discord bot. Server admins choose which features to switch on. We may change, add or remove features over time. We aim to keep Journo running, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free.

You must also follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Server admins

If you add Journo to a server, you're responsible for:

  • the features you switch on and the channels Journo reads,
  • telling your members how Journo is used there, especially member insights and the AI watch,
  • the content you teach the help desk, and the rules and punishments you set,
  • anything you sell to your members, and following the law where you and they live.

AI features

Some features use AI. AI can be wrong. Answers, pictures, moderation decisions and advice are a starting point; your staff have the final say. Don't rely on Journo for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.

Don't use Journo to create content that's illegal, harmful, or that breaks Discord's rules, including pictures of real people without their consent.

Plans and payments

  • Prices are per server, in euros, and shown on the pricing page.
  • Monthly plans renew automatically through PayPal until cancelled with /plan cancel. The plan runs until the end of the paid month.
  • Prepaid plans are paid once for 1, 6, 12 or 24 months and don't renew automatically.
  • If a monthly payment fails, the plan continues for 3 days, then the server returns to Free.
  • Upgrade credit has no cash value and can only be used towards Journo plans.
  • Refunds: Refund requests may be submitted within 7 days of purchase, provided that no services, including AI features or image-generation credits, have been used.
  • Custom plans are agreed separately in writing.

Donations

Donations made on this website or with /donate in Discord go to us and are used towards developing and improving Journo, adding new tools and features. They aren't charity donations. On the Free and Standard plans, if the server owner has deployed the donation panel, 5% of each donation made in that server is paid to the server owner; otherwise donations aren't shared with the server. As a thank-you, donors get activity points in the server (3 for each euro, rounded up). These points have no cash value and can't be used to enter raffles.

Shop sales and payouts

When members buy coins or memberships in a server, payment goes to our PayPal account, and we share it with the server owner according to the server's plan, as shown in the payouts guide. Money raised by a plan hype train pays for the plan and goes to us in full. Money raised by a shop hype train is shared like coin sales.

  • On Free and Standard, the owner's share is upgrade credit.
  • On Plus and Premium, the owner's share is paid to the PayPal email they set with /plan payout-setup. The smallest payout is €10. If PayPal returns a payout, the money goes back on the balance.
  • Server owners are responsible for their own taxes on payouts. PayPal may ask them to verify their identity.
  • Server owners are responsible for what they sell in their shop, and for delivering it.
  • Coins have no cash value outside the server and can't be exchanged for money. Coins can never be used to enter raffles; every raffle entrant gets one ticket.
  • Refunds of shop payments are made in PayPal by us or the server owner; refunded coins are taken back.

Ending

You can remove Journo from your server at any time. We may suspend or remove Journo from a server that breaks these terms or Discord's rules, or that puts others at risk.

Liability

Review: add your limitation of liability and consumer rights wording here.

These terms are governed by the law of Israel.
