Donations

Members can support Journo's development right from Discord. Donations work the same on every server and there's nothing to configure: you only decide whether to deploy them. As a thank-you, every donor gets 3 activity points for each euro they give.

What members do

  • /donate with any amount from €1 to €500, or tap an amount on your donation panel (€3, €5, €10, €25).
  • Add a message, or donate anonymously.
  • Pay on PayPal's own site. Journo never sees card or bank details.
  • /donations shows this month's total and top supporters. Anonymous donors are never named.

Deploy the panel

Go to your support channel and run /donate-panel, or run /settings there, pick Donations and press Deploy the donation panel here. The panel updates itself after every donation, and donors are thanked in that channel.

  • One panel per server. Deploying it somewhere else moves it.
  • /donate-panel remove:true takes it down. Deleting the panel message by hand counts as taking it down too.
  • /donations-admin shows recent donations, including anonymous ones, for staff.

Amounts, limits, texts and the thank-you points are fixed for every server, so members always know what to expect.

Your share on Free and Standard

While your panel is deployed on the Free and Standard plans, you get 5% of every donation made in your server, paid out in cash with your other earnings. Set where it's paid with /plan payout-setup and see it with /plan earnings. See Payouts for server owners.

On Plus and Premium, donations go fully towards Journo's development; you earn from shop sales instead.

Thank-you points

Every donor gets 3 activity points for each euro, rounded up: €5 gives 15 points and €7.50 gives 23. They arrive as soon as PayPal confirms the payment, and Journo tells the donor in a DM.

Donation points work like any other points (shop items, goals, gifts) and are spent first. The one exception: they can never pay for a raffle entry, even if they're gifted to someone else, so money can never buy a chance to win.

Donations aren't charity donations. PayPal treats them as normal payments.
