Welcome and verification

Welcome messages

In /settings > Welcome and verification, write your welcome message. These are filled in for you:

  • {user} mentions the new member
  • {name} is their name
  • {server} is your server's name
  • {count} is the member count

The default is: Welcome, {user}! Glad to have you in {server}. You're member number {count}.

To choose where it's posted, run /settings in that channel, pick Welcome and verification and press Welcome new members here. /welcome-test previews it using you.

You can also:

  • send a private welcome message (DM) to new members,
  • give everyone who joins one or more roles automatically,
  • post a goodbye message when someone leaves ({name} and {server} work there).

Verification

Verification makes new members press a Verify button, usually after reading your rules, before they see the rest of the server.

  1. Create a role such as Verified, and set your channels so only that role can see them.
  2. In Welcome and verification, switch verification on and choose the Verified role. You can also choose a role new members have until they verify.
  3. In your rules channel, run /verify-panel, or press the green button in that area.

Make sure the Journo role is above the Verified role. See Permissions and role order.

Welcome messages and verification work on every plan.
