Sealed letters

/letter writes a letter and seals it, drawn by Journo itself in your theme's style. Letters work on every plan and cost nothing to make, and the same letter always looks the same.

Each theme makes its letters differently. letters.style is auto by default, which follows your theme; you can pick another in /settings > Letters > Look.

Writing a letter

Run /letter. You can choose:

  • recipient: a member. Only they (or staff) can break the seal.
  • to: or an in-character name, such as Lord Hanush of Leipa.
  • seal: up to 3 letters stamped into the wax. Your initials are used if you leave it empty.
  • scribe: have the AI rewrite your words in the server's style.
  • courier: post it in the channel, send it privately to the recipient by DM, or First to open: it's posted in your letters channel and the first member to break the seal claims it and reads it.

Then write your letter in the pop-up.

The sealed envelope appears first. The recipient presses Break the seal to open it. By default the opened letter is shown in the channel; you can make it show only to the person who opens it.

Settings

In /settings > Letters: where letters are allowed, letters per member per day (10 by default), the longest letter (1,500 characters), the letter style and handwriting, paper, ink and seal colours, fonts, the default greeting and sign-off, the envelope heading, and the channel for first-to-open letters. Choosing a theme sets all of these at once.
