Features

Points, coins and raffles

Journo has two currencies, on purpose:

  • Activity points are free. Members earn them by chatting, with /daily and from quests.
  • Coins are bought with real money through PayPal (Plus and up).

Each theme gives them its own names. On the Standard theme they're Activity Points and Joon Coins; on Medieval, Renown and Silver. You can rename them in /settings > Points and coins. See Themes.

Earning points

  • Chatting: 1 point per message, at most once a minute, so spamming doesn't pay. You can stop some channels from earning points.
  • /daily: 1 point a day. On Plus and up you can add a streak bonus for days in a row.
  • Quests: see below.
  • Donating: 3 points for every euro donated with /donate, as a thank-you. See Donations.

Members check their balance with /balance and can give points or coins to each other with /gift (you can switch gifting off).

/points-admin adds or removes a member's activity points. The member is always told. Coins can't be added or removed by hand, because they're bought with real money.

Raffles

Run /raffle create in a channel, or press Start a raffle here in /settings > Raffles. Choose the prize, how long it runs (such as 1d or 2h 30m), the number of winners (1 to 20) and, if you like, an entry cost in activity points, a role for each winner and points for each winner.

  • Everyone gets exactly one ticket, so the odds are always equal.
  • Coins can never be used to enter a raffle, and neither can points received for donating (even if they're gifted on). Paying real money for a chance to win a prize can count as an illegal lottery in the UK and many EU countries, and it breaks Discord's rules. This is fixed in the code, not a setting.
  • /raffle end draws now, /raffle reroll picks new winners and /raffle cancel refunds entry points.

Role prizes need Standard or above.

Quests

Every server has base quests from the start, and on Plus you can add your own. See Quests.

To post quest completions and goal news in one channel, press Post rewards news here in /settings > Points and coins.

Community goals (Premium)

/goal create starts a goal members fund together with points or coins, with an optional end date and a role for every contributor when it's reached. Members chip in with /goal contribute and see goals with /goal list. /goal cancel cancels a goal and gives everyone their contribution back.
